Star Trek Logs

In 2021, a year before the release of the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, I had the opportunity to design and build this toolkit for Paramount. As each show premiered its new season, the Star Trek Logs toolkit was used by animators to provide Instagram extended content for new episodes. The toolkit automatically converts an audio file to a visual waveform, and provides handy tools for the animator to easily reveal the incoming text as it's spoken.

I began the project by developing concept boards based on the standard interfaces of each show's ships, like the LCARS for the USS Cerritos, and the new look for Strange New Worlds, which I had to figure out from screengrabs of the Discovery episode where the bridge of the Enterprise is shown, as Strange New Worlds had not yet premiered. I ultimately simplified for the final animation look.
